Episode Summary
In this episode of CPM Customer Success, host Andy Smetana sits down with Ken Schrock, Global Domain Lead for Operational Planning and IBP at OneStream, to define integrated business planning (IBP) in plain terms: a decision-making process that brings Finance, operations, supply chain, and commercial teams onto one set of numbers.
Ken led five IBP implementations in industry before joining OneStream, and he's candid about what went wrong the first time: a big-bang rollout that took 18 months to deliver value, planning models that were hard to keep in sync, and a strategy that fell apart because Finance was brought in last. He shares what he does differently today, and why a single forecast improvement can make IBP worth the investment.
Ken and Andy look at how Morton Salt, with 23 production centers, 3,000 SKUs, and 20,000 ship-to locations, started with close, consolidation, and planning in OneStream and grew into an integrated process that connects corporate finance to its plants and sales teams.
Andy also connects Ken's story to Rob Alleva's experience at Tronox from episode 92, where bringing actuals and plan into one model replaced separate planning models.
